Being Loved at Home Part 10 – Praying Together
It’s not that we don’t want to pray, it’s how and when to pray, isn’t it?
I happen to have had some leading from God on the “how” part. We have a Bible study in our home on certain Saturdays of the month and God gave me a dream on how to pray.
We made four prayer cards. Each has your own name, the name of the person you’ll be giving the prayer card to, the date, the type of prayer it is, and the actual prayer.
1st card: Someone’s Salvation. (Someone you are claiming for the Kingdom of God).
2nd card: Inner Growth (Something spiritual in your own life you would like to see growth in).
3rd card: A need you or someone else might have. (More focused on a Physical level, such as new tires for your car, a new sofa, maybe healing a part of your body, etc.)
4th card: This is the card in my dream I wasn’t clear on, so I made it a “wild card” for any type of prayer request you have.
You then write the name down on the card of the person that you will give this card to and then exchange cards with another person (in this case a family member, but it could be a friend) and you read those cards during the week an pray the request written on the card. Once the prayer is answered, write the date on the card, and give it back to the person and put it in an answered prayer box. This is great because sometimes when we pray we can feel like our prayers aren’t being heard or answered and the “Answered Prayer Box” that has cards in it from past prayers that have been answered reminds us that our prayers are being heard and answered even when we think they are not!
In our home bible study we have had many prayers answered and many prayer cards put in the “Answered Prayer Card Box”.
You can use the method if you like in your own family, or in your church/home Bible study.
Now comes the “when” to pray part. I admit it’s hard to find the time. But really, you don’t “find” the time, you make the time. You plan the time. That’s when you pray, you plan it and you do it.
There are times where my wife and I will be laying in bed at night and she might mention someone who needs prayer and we will join hands together just laying there in bed, in the dark and pray. We don’t have to make it a religious thing to have God hear our prayers. He honors them where ever we might be. Some of those times holding hands, praying for family and others give me very good memories and I look forward to doing it more with her.
I hope you will be inspired by this blog and plan on making some time to pray for others and pray together also. It will enrich your life and you will feel the love like never before at home.
